To the person who was on my Retype stream.

Last night, around 2300 Eastern, we had some rain. When it rains our DSL modem gets flaky.

After it went down, I brought it up and it went right back down again.

Then we heard thunder. I have learned the hard way to disconnect the modem from the phone line during a thunderstorm. I brought it up again around 0400 and my Hamshack Hotline phone turned green again, but I had no internet on this computer. I checked again around 1000 and everything was OK.

DSL problems are something we have lived with for years. I apologize that you lost my stream.

Actually there is so little use of my streams and since power rates have gone up, I am wondering if I should shut down the four computers that I use.

I had been spending an hour or two a day keeping my news stream fresh for nobody to use. I am just letting it get stale now.

I have too much yard work and Teletype work to do too waste time on something nobody is interested in.

I am trying to retype a 1952 news bulletin on the death of Stalin. It turned into a lot more time than I expected.
I will keep plugging away at it in the evenings if I am not too tired, which I frequently am.

I try to keep about 5 acres mowed. There are still about 2 1/2 acres that have not been touched yet this summer. I have also built a 3 X 9 foot raised bed 3 feet high for my garden so I do not have to bend over to tend it. I topped it of with  compost. I have 7 high tomato plants, three nice bell peppers, and a cucumber plant that is already hanging over the sides of the bed. It looks like a jungle. I maintain that in between Teletypes and mowing grass.

I am trying to bring my new 28 ASR back to life. I work on it an hour or so until my back hurts too much from bending over it before I start yardwork. It took me many hours just to straighten out the wiring to get the power switch to work and both motors to run. Yesterday I  tore apart the gearshift for the dome mounted reperf and got it to work. putting it back together was a lot more difficult that taking it apart. It works now and I am trying to get the reperf mounted back on the base. All the mounting hardware was missing, so that is not so easy.

I just don't have the time to work on my 15 RO right now or my KTR.

And someday I want to get the governed motors off this 19, replace them with sync motors and get it all working for whomever ends up with it.
