The 32 should be in Connect mode when the ST 6 turns it ON.

Local and other 32 Telex modes are not used.

When you hook up the Telex to the ST 6 the Telex should either shut off or be in Connect mode. If it shuts off, reverse leads. Not too familiar with ST 6 but my ST 5000 has a power plug on the back to plug the Telex into.

I looked up the ST 6 and there is a power plug on the back. Its labeled Motor.

If you want to just fire up the TTY there should be a Local button on the ST 6. Not sure of this but others on the list likely are.
