If anyone is interested, I have pinned down the problem with my new toy.

The stop lever is so tight on its bearing that it will not move into position

to catch the stop arm on the selector cam. I can barely move it with a

screwdriver tip. If I push the stop lever into place the machine stops running open.

If I manually pop the trip latch the selector still won't turn - stop lever is too tight

to move out of the way.

My guess is I need to remove the stop lever, clean out the bearing and re-oil it.

Then it looks like the trip off eccentric screw might need a slight adjustment

Some judicious oiling of the swords got them working. Now as the machine is

running open, the selector cam ripples through the swords as it should.

If I can get this problem sorted out, I can move on and see what the next problem may be.
