My Ace store here by my house carries 6-40 NF along with 6-32 NC
They also have the taps and the dies and 6-48 NEF which are "Extra Fine".
The HWI "Do IT" hardware dealer that is downtown also carries odd screws. I'd even bet that dealer would have some actual Teletype screws! LOL! They have been in business for over 100 years and it never ceases to amaze me what that store has.
.
Just because they are affiliated with a national chain doesn't necessarily mean they don't carry certain screws it kinda depends on the hardware store
and their clientele.

Don't know if any of you have been to your local hardware store to get a 6-40 screw to replace that one that fell on the floor and can't find.  If you have, you were no doubt disappointed to find there weren't any.

What's the solution, I don't know other than don't throw away any that you do have. Supposedly at one time they were used in guns.  I got blanks stares from the guys in the gun shop I stopped by.
