I removed the typing unit and found one lever loose. Fortunately, the
C-clip retaining ring was there on the base so I was able to re-attach
it easily.  Here are some pictures of the typing unit (28BE) and the
inside of the base.  I gave the typing unit a jiffy-lube job oiling the
felts and greasing the gears. There is a working internal loop supply
contrary to what I thought at first.  The typing unit still will not
activate when the keys are pressed.  The clutches and everything on the
base seem to be working fine.  The tape reader still is not running with
the switch set on "T".  The typing unit does "chatter" just fine when
the connector block is disconnected.  I can see the ribbon advancing,
etc.  I wonder if it is set for receive-only.  I have it out in my
"barn" now where I can work on it unmolested but there is no Internet
connection out there or else I might be able to hook up ITTY to test it.
