Those are some nifty accessories.   I will have to get a closer look at the center feed unwinder.  I have found that chadless is an issue because its always catching the next row of tape which makes a mess and twists up.

Teletype made tape unwinders that fed tape from the center. For use after your motorized or clockwork winder did its job.

The spool winders do make it tough.  I built this stand so after it winds on the spool I move the spool to the top bolt and put another spool on the bottom and wind it again.  Not the most efficient but it does the job.

I will need to learn the hand method before I run out of the spools I found on eBay.

It’s actually pretty easy to do. I learned it from Henning. I’ve been doing it between thumb and pinky. The article says do it between the thumb and the two middle fingers (fingers 2 and 3, which are held together). I’ll have to try that.

What amazed me was how the first guy in the Phu Lam video tied it and hung it up in the beginning  of the video- no rubber band required. I watched it closely a few times but could not see how he did that.

I used to use one of those Brucknel (?) automatic winders to wind it onto a spool as it comes out of the punch so that it doesn’t not end up all over the floor. But the spool ends up winding the tape in the wrong direction and is basically useless.

It makes it clearer what he's doing.  I've got to break out some junk
tape and give it a try, but I think I see what's going on. He uses the
thumb and little finger to wrap the tape, giving it a half-twist each pass.

A new thing to learn! Woo Hoo!
