In my effort to fix my typing reperf in my 28ASR, I remembered I had this ROTR in the closet. I thought I could replace my LPR with the LPR from this unit as my LPR is definitely missing a part. Funny how age affects the memory. I had completely
forgot that about 10 years ago I discovered that my LPR was not working correctly (see previous emails on this subject) and even went through the trouble of finding the problem. I never did solve it, but I did find the problem. Anyone who wants to see a page

It is kinda long, so the TL;DR is I am missing part number 159880. And even if I obtained this part, I think installing it would likely drive me crazy.
So back to the ROTR. After some digging, I was able to unearth it from the closet. Pix here (pix from when I original acquired it):
Before I fired it up, I thought it best to try to rotate the motor by hand and it was stuck. But after a little bit of torque it freed up but still felt like it was dragging. Certainly didn’t move as freely as the motors on my two other
machines even when those machines are connected to their drivetrains and this one is disconnected from anything else.
This has a 3 speed transmission (maybe the all do?) and with the gear shift in a neutral position, the top section of gears also feels like there are some little detents here and there, not smooth as I would expect. The LPR mechanism itself
seems to be well lubricated as I can get everything moving with ease (I have removed the belt between the gear shift mechanism and the LPR mechanism.

I have a bunch of manuals for these things very confusing (and intimidating) for a novice. I see that the motor has 4 nipples for lubrication. What kind of tool is needed to press the ball bearing down while lubing this? I’ll have to read
up whether it needs grease or oil. I am hoping I don’t have to dismantle the motor to get this going.
Advice (or admonitions) welcome.
