Steve,

Unless the 33's are TWX models you can remove the machine from the pedestal quite easily.

Remove the rear pedestal panel.  Two screws and lift up to slide out of the bottom lip.

Pull out the tape reader PS.  Its just slides out of the pedestal top front lip.  Unplug the Molex connector.

There are 4 screws to remove from the bottom looking up at the machine pan.  Standing at the back be sure the screw on the left side closest to you is not stripped.  If not loosen it a half turn.  Remove the other 3 screws and lift up on the machine pan just a little and rotate it CW about 45 degrees.  It should balance there while you remove the last screw.  Pick up the machine from the back side to avoid damaging the kybd or tape reader.

Reverse the procedure to install the machine back on the pedestal.

Nothing else to do if they are going on a seat except wipe off any oil on the bottom of the machine pan.  You can buckle them in with the seat belt using the child restraint trick of pulling the seat belt all the way out and then buckle up.

Looking for best practices and advice for transporting a  M33 ASR.  More than likely two of them, with one to maybe a spare parts machine.  One has a pretty banged up cover on the right side of the keyboard.  (Both have the platen knobs and one has the chad bucket)

They are both on their stands, so thought removing them from the stands might be best.  I will be transporting in a pickup, so thought the stands could just ride laying down in the bed, while the cabinets could just ride on the back seat of the cab.

I have seen some posts that I didn’t digest completely as I wasn’t interested in 33 at the time, that mentioned bolting the print mechanism to the frame, but that may have been for shipping purposes, not necessary for a nice comfy ride in the back seat of a warm pickup.

Any and all advice appreciated.
