I've got a similar but different problem on mine. The #3 punch punches OK except for in a LTRS code. Then it doesn't punch at all. I removed the punch mechanism and cleaned it all, and there it sits. It is a real pain getting it all back together. It is in the garage and it is too cold to fiddle with it now. I couldn't find anything unusual with the punch mechanism.

Oh I almost forgot, perhaps the old semi brittle tape contributes to the problem?
