Update:
I relieved the tension on the CR return spring somewhat (about 1-1/2 turns) and the carriage comes back another 4 spaces now when Auto CRLF activates.
So it's within 5 now of the left margin.

Hi Mike: Go to the M28 typing unit adjustments book and check out adjustments 2.39 and 2.40.
https://navy-radio.com/manuals/tty/573-115-700-iss7-6607.pdf When ACRLF is triggered, the carriage return lever (and an associated mechanism) lift the spacing
feed pawls away from the right hand side spacing drum. The spacing feed pawls should stay off of
the spacing drum until the printing carriage returns all the way to the left. Check adjustments 2.39
and 2.40.
On another matter, the spring tension in the left hand spacing drum is optimized for 100 WPM operation.
The idea is that if it works OK for 100 WPM, it will also work just fine for 60 WPM. The heavy spring
tension can cause a bounce at the left hand printing margin and sometimes cause a jumble of letters
at the left margin. If you only run your machine at 60 WPM, you might want to consider easing up on
the spring tension in the left spacing drum. (The left margin letter jumble typically only affects two or
three spaces. The fact that your problem in ACRLF happens at the ninth space indicates another
issue.) See adjustment 2.38 for the left spacing drum spring tension.
Good luck with your project.

Subject: [GreenKeys] 28KSR with Auto CRLF issue
I've recently added the Auto CRLF function to my 28KSR and it does work...sort of.The issue is that on the CR return stroke, the carriage doesn't return all the way to the far left margin. It gets stopped about an inch short (9 character spaces to be precise)Does anyone have any insight as to what may be the problem, and what I can do to correct it?Thanks!MikeKD7VRG
