The Motor Stop command is normally {FIGS} {H} (uppercase H). But just because the keyboard H key also says "STOP", doesnt mean that the function is active in the printer.
First, the printer must have the stop relay installed, and second it must be engaged. There was typically an easy way to disable the Motor Stop function.
So, NO, you cannot tell if a machine has the motor stop option with the cover on. If you can power up the machine on a loop and type {FIGS} {H} and the motor shuts off, then it has Motor Stop.
What type of machine are you asking about. All the military Kleinschmidt machines (TT-4, TT-98, etc) included Motor Stop, but it was usually disabled.
