For those who couldn't tune in but still wish to get the story in full 45 baud glory, recordings are now available here: https://teletype.net/display/TEL/Internet+Teletype+-+ITTY

While I prefer to get the broadcast in its original format for the real effect, gaps of silence and all, for the sake of those who don't want to deal with that, I had a change of heart. You can now get each recording in a condensed format without the test messages and each gap of silence collapsed to only a few seconds.

Thanks to everyone who tuned in this year, and be sure to get your machines in shape for the 2021 Santa Tracker coming Christmas Eve.

Apologies-- there are some issues with the URL originally provided due to lack of proofreading. Please use the following bone fide, blue-check-verified URL to avoid undue confusion and delay:

http://tty.nerdology.org:8000/halloween

The stream is now live and will begin test messages at 2:00 PM MDT, main broadcast at 4:00 PM MDT. Happy Halloween!

The time fast approaches for the third annual Halloween spookytime broadcast, this time an original story written for the teletype medium by yours truly, titled simply Lunatic.

Test messages including Halloween song lyrics and poems will be broadcast every quarter hour beginning at 2:00 PM MDT on October 31. The broadcast of the story itself will begin at 4:00 PM MDT, lasting about two hours. It will be streamed at https://tty.nerdology.org:8000/halloween (note that accessing the link will result in a 404 error until 10 - 15 minutes before the first test message begins).

As in times past, it will be broadcast as if the narrator were sending the messages in realtime with gaps of silence between for the sake of adding a sense of realism to the event. Therefore, leveraging an autostart mechanism if you have one available is recommended.

Mark/space tones will be at the usual frequencies (2125 mark, 2295 space; 170 shift). If you are already set up to use the fantastic ITTY or AUTOSTART channels, the only thing you'd need to change in your configuration is the streaming URL.

There will be one pic at the end. No overstrike.

Unfortunately, due to a long period of my equipment being mostly inaccessible for testing and the lack of time to work on it in the first place, this broadcast, like previous ones, will also not be USOS-friendly (unshift on space). Because of this, those who have machines equipped with USOS are advised to disable the functionality or use a different machine for the best experience, though the story itself shouldn't be impacted if you can't. This inadequacy is at the top of my list to resolve whenever I am able to work on that list again.

Be sure to join the stream if you can, and be wary of looking directly at the moon during these dangerous and mysterious times.
