It might be wrong, but my Wheatstone punch has 1/2" tape in it..

OK on the pen register, etc., but the carton clearly says Teletypewriter.....
It also says Recorder, but Morse ink recorders I have seen use 3/8 tape.
What was this 1/2" wide tape used for?
I have seen 3/8 tape for tape printers and 15/32 for Wheatstone perforators (and of course wider tape for 5-level perforators)
