Here are the files and some information on how I made the cartridge re-ink roller.
The re-ink roller does not have to be 100% perfect.
Let me know where I can send you some empty shells if you need it.
I can also make some ribbon loops, or you can follow the notes on Thingiverse for making the ribbon and re-ink roller.
I am NOT charging anything, just trying to help others with keeping the model 43 running.
Hello all you GreenKeyers,
This is my first post since discovering this fantastic group a few weeks ago (thanks to mr_rtty for telling me about this group)!!!
I too need ribbons for my two Teletype Model 43’s that I’m trying to get working for myself and my small telecom museum that I am the curator of here at Nokia (formerly Lucent Technologies/Alcatel-Lucent/AT&T/Bell Labs/Western Electric/Teletype).
I’ve just about exhausted every possible avenue of getting ribbons. I have one machine just about working but can’t see what it is trying to print. The ribbon has holes due to the previous owner, and I shattered the petrified reinking wheel
just by touching it and trying to measure it.
I contacted many suppliers of dot-matrix cartridges hoping to find someone that has a 1/4” (6mm) x 39” (1000mm) ribbon so I can replace it but haven’t had any luck.
Michael Enkelis, I sure would like to buy a few of those cartridges that you printed so that I have a spare for each. I thought about learning how to create a 3D copy but that was farther down on my list... finding a replacement ribbon and reinking
wheel is first.
So does anyone have a source of replacement ribbon and reinking wheel, or even a whole new cartridge???
THANKS for such a great network of experts on this forum keeping Teletypes alive!!!
