So interesting test. I didn’t have a ton of time this weekend so I experimented with diversity 2 ways. I was using 2 CV-483 (the 2 together make an AN/URA-17) Receive only terminal units, an R-1051 receiver, an AN/URC-58 Transceiver and my KSR.
1. (iTTY) I fed the same iTTY signal into both while set on diversity then cut the audio from each one to see what would happen. There was a 1-2 character blip but it pretty much kept right on typing with out any issue. Very cool.
2. (Same Freq, 2 Antennas)I used the RTTY feed from KPH and fed one from the AN/URC-58 and the other from the R-1051. One was on an E/W End Fed the other on the N/S end fed. This was more work as tuning took awhile. Same results once everything was running. I could detune one radio and it would just flip to the other with no issues. Another very cool test.
3. (2 Freqs) I attempted to tune separate frequencies but either the KPH transmitter wasn’t working up on 12mhz or the signal wasn’t making it down. I figure it wasn’t working because I should have heard something from Point Reyes being that its about 350 miles away.
Next weekend I should have more time to test and make a short video on the action.
