Don't ever recall seeing anything that defines which is which.
The RX lead would measure around 100-200 ohms. TX lead would be a
short, and if you have break key, pushing it would give you an open
circuit. That being said, there are many different configurations
depending Bell System, Navy, or private line usage. You might have to
lift the hood.
