The TGC-1 was originally designed by the Postal Telegraph Co and then continued by WU after they took over Postal.We have one preliminary manual and all the drawings are WU.The unit was originally referred to as a "Package Set", probably because it was the first time reperfs and tape readers were packaged in the same cabinet.RCA was using them on their RTTY circuits in the late 1940s, though they were using them in a dual-cabinet configuration. I know the machines were Teletypebut don't remember who built the sets.TGC-1 was especially a military torn tape item.  Since each cabinethandled one or two lines send and receive it made it easy to set upa relay center of any size.
