Some of you are new, so we would like to explain the four channels to you.
ITTY: this broadcasts news 24/7. News is usually updated every morning by Tom Tillson. The news is a queue of quite a number of articles that repeats all day long. ITTY runs at teletype standard speed of 60 WPM at standard RTTY mark/space frequencies
ITTY 100: this is the same as ITTY but runs at the higher speed of 100 WPM.
EUROPE aka GREENWICH: this broadcasts news from European news sources 24/7. The articles can be a bit longer. There is a rotating queue of 6 articles and it will refresh as new news is published throughout the day by the European news sources. The queue always contains at a minimum the six most recent news articles. Once an article is 24 hours old, it is removed (except if the queue would drop below six). At the moment, the only source is the BBC news. This channel runs at 66 WPM using mark and space frequencies that are defined in the European standard. If you have a European teletype or telex machine, this channel is for you.
AUTOSTART: this channel does not broadcast continually. It broadcasts things one time as they come in. Things you will see on this channel: a morning “this day in history” from Tom Tillson; every greenkeys message during the day as they come in; two (usually) RTTY art pics from Doug Nelson at 2pm Eastern time, plus or minus an hour; anything that anyone happens to send to the channel using the RTTYMailer app, which is available at the following URL for use with all four ITTY channels.
https://rtty.com/itty/RTTYMailer%20v16.zip
This channel is designed for those with a line motor control installed. Your teletype will wake up (power on), print the article, and then go to sleep (power off) until the next article comes in.
In fact, using RTTYMailer, anybody can send anything to any of the channels. If you send something to the news channels, it will transmit immediately after the current article that is being transmitted finishes and it will also be added to the queue for the day. If you send something to AUTOSTART, it will also transmit immediately after the current article that is being transmitted (if any) finishes but there is no queue.
We hope you enjoy our service. We wish to thank you for your continued support over the years. It is YOU, the listener that makes it all worthwhile.
