[GreenKeys] Model 15 Associated Press with Model 19 keyboard...can it work?

My model 15 was missing a keyboard when I got it, but the case had the
cutout for it (which the wire service machines that I saw did not have). I
was able to buy a keyboard from Mr. RTTY and plug it in. As I recall (this
has been several years now), I did have to add a jumper on the contacts on
the base to get it working.
On grinding gears, are you turning the keyboard shaft by hand? If so, it
may be too slow to "throw out" and disengage the teeth. When running at
full speed, it may be fine.
