I got the 34mm dia by 70mm long motor start capacitor that I ordered.  It's one of these:

This seems the same, except it's blue, the above is black.

Anyhow, it just barely fits in the space formerly occupied by the original stock capacitor. I had to bend the hold-down finger (that is attached to the motor start relay bracket) up. The finger still holds the capacitor down and it is firmly held. The motor starts vigorously with the new capacitor in lace.

It matters that the capacitor is firmly held in place because the rim of the TTY motor fan is just over 1mm from the capacitor. This is a tight fit but just barely acceptable. I'll post before and after photos once I get home where the cable is to connect computer to camera.

The black fish-paper shield for the starting relay fell apart when I loosened the relay to install the capacitor. I have spare fish paper at home, so I'll have to cut out a replacement and bend it to the correct shape.

(Note, the fish paper used in electrical equipment is also called vulcanized fiber, or fibre if you're using British spellings. It is not really cardboard (although it began as such) because the cellulose fibers have been chemically softened so that they congeal into a very hard and strong material. Technically, it is considered a man-made polymer material as a result of this processing.

To bend it, you boil it in water until soft, then clamp it in a mold made of softwood and let it dry for days -- the softwood allows the water to diffuse out of the fiber. Technically, water is the plasticizing agent for this polymer material.

I've replaced all the other bits of vulcanized fibre in this Teletype, the shield over all the Molex plugs on the back of the CCU was torn, and the heat shield for the paper-tape reader supply was missing.
