Personally, with the optical tacho, I find adjustment quick, easy and 
simple. Just stick a bit of reflective tape on, and you can read the 
motor speed accurate to 1RPM.
I can´t see why any one would try an use a tuning fork, especially those 
of us with failing eyesight...
