Hi Eric,

Thanks for your suggestion and I did consider just running the motor of the
50 Hz mains supply, but most of the advice seems to be "don't do it"
because the motor will run hot etc. leading to early failure. I had the
inverter so it was no problem to run the machine on 60 Hz but it's not an
elegant or a very efficient solution. The baud rate conversion is no
problem but I'm more concerned about the machine reliability. Once I get
the machine working properly I'll try running it at 50 Hz and see what
happens...
