[GreenKeys] Can solenoids, connectors, and other electricals get wet while cleaning 28 typing unit

Hi,

I was a member of Greenkeys, back before the Web was invented (by Al
Gore, right? :-).
I am finally back to restoring my Teletype collection, a Model 35KSR, a
Model 28KSR, and a Model 28RO.

I'm starting with the 28RO.
I've removed it from the motor/base.
I've already scrubbed it with a toothbrush while spraying isopropyl alcohol.
I figured this was a good start before I venture into the Simple Green
"bath."
I am concerned about wetting the big connector, solenoid(s), cables and
mysterious electricals under the platen.

My questions are these:
1) Is it really okay to flood the typing unit with a water-based detergent?
2a) If so, how long do I have to dry it before operation?
2b) If not, do I have to disassemble all the electricals?  -- Is there a
manual/page# for that?

Yes, yes, I know, there will be hours of following Section 573-115-701TC
lubrication instructions
It will probably be dry before I finish, though I'm not planning to
leave it in the sun (and rain) to dry.

Thanks!
