[GreenKeys] Strobotac vs Auto Line Feed After every printed character

I have long used a GR 1531A to observe and analyze Model 14s, 15s, and 19s, as well as series-governed motors

And, early on - I very nearly lost the tip of a finger (definitely lost the nail) when I had a 15 on the bench, lights off, strobe-freezing the machine to look like it was running in slow motion, and I forgot what I was doing and started to reach in to make some adjustment. Type-bar bail got me. Thunk! Aiiieee!

Children: don't try this at home! We're Professionals!

Does anyone use a Strobotac (General Radio seems to be the predominate brand) to troubleshoot a continuous occurring machine issue? Seems to me to be an ideal tool for this particular problem.

If you are not familiar with Stroboscope operation it goes something like this; The light behind the reflector flashes at a rate set by the range switch and the large knob. If the flash frequency is set to be the same

as the operation period of the machine part, the image appears to stand still. If the large knob is turned one way the operation image will slowly move one direction and vice versa. That allows observing a part's movement and what moves it and the effect it has on other connected parts.

Ebay typically has two GR models listed. The older one (GR-631) for about $50 and the newer version (GR-1531) for about $100 plus shipping. No, I do not have any listed on Ebay ;)

Good luck,
