Fist of it is not called gibberish it is called garble.

Harold is right you should check your speed.

You can generally read the number on the motor
pinion from the front of the pinion. You may have
to clean it up  bit with solvent or scotchbrite,

Look up the number and see what speed gearset
it belongs to. Of course if you have a governed
motor, You must get that on speed somehow.

If  have sync motor, just look up the pinion number.

When was the last time you aligned the filters in
your TU 170?

When I get a used TU the first thing I do is align the
filters. It surprising how far off an active filter can
get as components age. The filters should be
checked  every year or two after that first alignment.

I have an ST 5000 on the bench right now with a mark
filter that will not come into alignment because some
component has changed value too much.
