I do know of two on geo satellites... EMWIN (on various geo
weather satellites in L band) and NOAAPORT/Weather Wire on Galaxy 31 C
band 4040 V 30000 VCM. Both of these carry various text weather
messages (ASCII but convertible to Baudot). Weather Wire messages were
commonly printed by radio/tv stations via a dedicated TTY back in the
day, today they are transmitted as upper/lower case 72 character line
formatted ASCII text messages over a UDP broadcast.... which one would
need to receive and parse to find weather for specific areas of interest
(and kinds of forecast product of interest). There are SW tools for
doing this... some open source.
One would also need a suitable (old BUD) satellite dish for this
and the right kind of tuner/IP gateway for the signal you propose to use.
Not sure if there currently are websites on the net that provide
access to this material from this source, but I would expect so... but the
satellite feeds do still exist however (and are fully up to the minute and
unencrypted and free for personal use).
