I agree. Wow! Very impressive work. This project makes my projects look
very simple.
And the original typewrite is pretty amazing. A lot of engineering went
into that. And a lot of assembly time!
In the 1970s, I visted Moseley Associates (
https://bh.hallikainen.org/index.php/MoseleyAssociatesInc ) in Santa
Barbara CA. We were looking to buy a transmitter control system and studio
to transmitter link for our new FM station. They had a system that would
type the transmitter log using an IBM Selectric. Later, I designed similar
systems using a Teletype model 43 (
https://bh.hallikainen.org/index.php/HallikainenAndFriends ).
Thinking back through printer history, I got a dot matrix printer with the
Cromemco computer I bought from a guy at Apple. Later I added a daisy
wheel printer to print manuals. The daisy wheel might be compared to the
Selectric, but the daisy wheel is MUCH simpler. It only had to rotate the
wheel to the correct position, then hit the type with a hammer.
The technology of putting ink on paper is fascinating!
