“Destroyed by mice” — hopefully many parts could be salvaged. I have two ASR 33s that the cases got pretty destroyed but are fairly operational. And also one that is the rare pin feed type platinum but that is needing some TLC and some new drive belts. And also a carcass.

I agree it might be a modem. I had a model 33 TWX machine with the modem in the pedestal. It was awesome. I had great hopes for that machine. I really liked it. Sadly the machine was destroyed by mice and could not be restored (even Wayne, with his magic, could not do it).

Perhaps this video is of interest:

The pedestal likely has an old Bell 103 modem in it?

A new find, awaiting restoration – was supposed to have been working X?X years ago – been sitting ever since. I’ve never seen one with a card dialer – though a few hundred years ago, I had a card-dialed telephone set with this mechanism in it– (why? because I could. ;} )

The entire pedestal is full of an enormous ‘lesu’ – I haven’t dug into it all yet – most likely be a summer project.

I have ordered one of Mike Douglas’ current loop to serial converters for it, and it will probably end up connected to my PiDP11.

I’d be interested to know if anyone is familiar with this particular style of machine….
