What does RTTYapp do exactly?I'm looking for a way to create ASFK baudot from the command line on Windows.I downloaded RTTYapp but it appears to be GUI based. I need something I can use in a script.

Eric’s code is cool. What make it different is that is issues local weather alerts for your location.
That said, it could also issue national alerts and weather updates. It would be easy for Eric to send that to an RTTYApp autostart channel. I’m already hosting one, so we could use that.
What do you think, Eric? A national channel for autostart, and then local channels for those who want to use a Volpe board?

I use the RTTYapp and it converts text files to AFSK.  I would just need the download from NOAA and save to text file part automated.

Daniel,   As I see it, the problem with doing this on Windows is automating the conversion from text to AFSK tones.Windows is very GUI oriented and lacking in command line tools.Makes it hard to automate things with scripts. Is there any command line tool like minitmodem that will run on Windows?

This would be cool as its own itty weather feed.  National weather and major storm alerts or something like that.  I would be willing to host it but someone would have to write the code to run on a Win10 Machine, I am not a code writing type.  If someone does host it let me know and I can add it to the growing list of things to print from the internet.

Yep.  ittyWx uses an API key to scrape the NWS API servers (own the internet) — to pull current observations, forecasts & weather bulletins (with bells) for a given location or locations - during certain hours or continuously and also can control a relay - to turn on (/off) a TT for printing, etc.

Version 1 just pulled weather bulletins.  Version 2 did all of the above, but using older Python and API code.  The current version (3) is further refined.

The past few days I’ve been working on it and I think it’s almost to a point — especially with the Raspberry 5, that it’s nearly really for prime time… please stay tuned.

Attached are images of printout-examples one can receive by using ittyWx.
(just had a look at the images — just noticed a couple of things I still have to fix)

This sounds interesting.  I've heard of the volpes board but didnt know it could do that.  Can it follow the weather service?
