This sounds interesting. I've heard of the volpes board but didnt know it could do that. Can it follow the weather service? Andy BSent via the Samsung Galaxy S24+, an AT&T 5G smartphone

For those of us who don't know, what is ittyWX?Sounds like an RPi scrapes weather updates from the web and sends them to a Volpe boardfor printing?Am I close?-Steve

Group,A number of years ago — with the great help of Paul, I released two versions of ittyWx for use with a Raspberry Pi and a Volpe board. Well, for years I let it languish, since I got fed up with my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ ... after while it would just clunk out and refuse to do anything without a restart, with its heaping 1GB of ram. Then came a huge undertaking of a basement cleaning, which is almost done… so now I’m back at the Teletype. There's now a Raspberry Pi 5, which I received in the mail late last week. I’m currently in the process of updating ittyWx to a version 3, using the new hard/software (actually pretty much finished it tonight). I’m going to a hard stress test on it for a couple of weeks, before uploading it to Github (I think that’s where the others live)… will update everyone if and when it all looks good.Would also be curious as to how it would act with the new version of the (Volpe) board that has been recently made by others. Concerning the production run that I set into motion many years ago, the tech person who *should* be fixing the bad ones apologized to me a few weeks ago when I saw him at his store. His family lives in a town on the front lines in Ukraine, so he’s up every night talking to them before he has to be at work in the morning… hoping that eventually he can get back to them, once everything quiets down *sigh*.> On Jan 22, 2025, at 8:29 AM, Pete G <craneplc at gmail.com> wrote:> > The NWS has a page of text links here;> https://forecast.weather.gov/product_types.php?site=NWS> > A lot of the links listed are no longer used by the NWS.> > Some of the links that still work;> > Short Range Discussion> https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/pmdspdbody.txt> > Selected Cities Forecast> https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=CRH&product=SCS&issuedby=01> https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=HFO&issuedby=02&product=SCS&format=txt&version=1&glossary=1> https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&product=SCS&issuedby=03> https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=PDT&issuedby=04&product=SCS&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1> > Special weather statements are here;> https://forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=usa&wwa=Special%20Weather%20Statement> > Tropical Weather> https://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/hurricane_products/atlantic/weather/outlook.txt> https://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/hurricane_products/eastern_pacific/weather/discussion.txt> https://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/hurricane_products/atlantic/weather/discussion.txt> > Winter Weather Reports (Click on city)> https://forecast.weather.gov/product_sites.php?site=NWS&product=WSW> > Pete______________________________________________________________GreenKeys mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/greenkeysHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:GreenKeys at mailman.qth.net>>> Jordan Spencer Cunningham's GreenKeys Search Tool: https://teletype.net/gksearch>>> 2002-to-present greenkeys archive: http://mailman.qth.net/pipermail/greenkeys/>>> 1998-to-2001 greenkeys archive: http://mailman.qth.net/archive/greenkeys/greenkeys.html>>> Randy Guttery's 2001-to-2009 GreenKeys Search Tool: http://comcents.com/tty/greenkeyssearch.htmlThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.htmlMessage delivered to raleigh_ranger at yahoo.com
