So I dug out the 45 baud gears from ASR #2, and both the pinion gear (cracked) and the driven gear were toast. I do have a spare driven gear but...
...I may have found the problem. The driven gear on that intermediate shaft had a 1/8th in wobble to it. So the shaft might be bent. I pulled a shaft assembly and the spare still had a slight wobble even on that. (Keep in mind these machines were intentionally destroyed so bent parts are common.)
So Ill need a 45 baud gearset to get #2 up again.
Next up was chasing cables from the torn tape system, and that was...a success! Thanks to another volunteer I located 4 pairs from torn tape, which means I can likely get it on the air again in some capacity!
Next I took a minute to poke around the UCC-1, and the good news is, at least one stack is intact! The bad news is, not only is it not hooked up (unsure of cabling), but some goober stole every-single-fuse from it. So that'll be a future goal.
Lastly I actually tried to do a little RTTY from the model 15 in Faccon but its wired half duplex and between the two converters wont work. Theres another pair there so next time maybe Ill wire it up as full duplex. There was tons of RTTY today and I copied some CQs.
Before I left I jumped on the radio and made 20 something contacts including one to Bermuda, so my first day back in some time was productive!
Also a bunch of kids came through Message Handling today so they got to punch their name on ASR #1. (Asr #1 is 75 baud and not hooked up to anything...yet. Its also jammed in a corner).
