I've got two R-808's. They are unique in several ways.
They can be powered by 110VAC, 60 cps or 28VDC.
And they have an RTTY receiving converter built in.
Look similar to the R-392 but a VERY different receiver.
I'd rate perfromance as marginal. Overloads easily and amazingly
drifty for what was designed for RTTY application primarily.
Lots of back lash in the main tuning dial too. Somewhat
modular construction. Bought a second one just to see if
the performance of the first one was really that bad. Verified.
Save your money, buy an R-392 which is a stellar receiver IMO.
