90% the reason I restored my two ASR 33s was the smell.9% was tactile and the sound. 1% was to use some of these cartons of rolled paper that I have. 😳😁😜👍

I have a Teletype Model 28 KSR in my office at the university where I
teach. I fire it up several times a semester for demonstrations.
Students remark on many different aspects, but one of the most common
things for them to comment upon is the smell of oil. The majority of
those comments are positive. A surprising number (to me) of students
have asserted that it feels comforting, most of them without any prior
reason to know that anyone else has said the same thing.

I'm not sure exactly what that says, but I'm pretty sure it means that
re-homing your ASR is good, valuable work. :-)
