I’d image there’d be a very short surge of current initially though, to get the magnets moving. Depending on the meter (sampling rate), it may not even register the surge — even if it were current-limited. I believe those tube rectifiers for the 19 were rated at 1A and I think that I read something somewhere in the past that apx. .6A was the bare minimum for the punch. Then again, that rating may include the 14TD tied in with the punch loop, but 1A was considered very safe with the early rectifiers (no toxic fumes due to overcurrent, etc.). It’d be fun to hook up an old school meter to see what it would peak at!
