Early M28 units used a 60v copy lamp (via dropping resistor from AC line)
and later ones a #82 6v lamp. So be sure of what you are replacing!
IIRC, the end-of-line lamp may still have stayed a 60v bulb with dropping
resistor even though the copy lamps were 6v. The ways of the Teletype Corp
are deep and mysterious….

A 10-pack of #82 6v incandescents can be found for about the same price as
a single LED equivalent. Unless you are running 24/7, I’d go with the
incandescents.

I think the dual contact socket is because the socket stayed the same when
the field change to 6v was made.
