[GreenKeys] "Universal Release Magnet" for M14 TD

Yes, "Universal" was probably for AC/DC operation. The kit replaces the
magnet coil and replaces a 500 ohm resistor with a tapped, 175-350 ohm
resistor. The 350 ohm section is jumpered out for 110VAC operation.
Fig 31 of TM 1-2222 (May 1951) that Harold referenced shows the tapped
resistor (with the same part no. that is in the modification kit). So
this kit must have been for pre 1951 units.
The only confusion factor is that the spec refers to a "Release Magnet"
and TM 11 -2222 refers to a "Tape-Stop Magnet."
The specification is dated Oct 1945. A copy of the spec is enclosed, but
it is not a very good scan. I'll try to find a better copy to scan for
Nick's archive.
