Welcome to GK! Im the guy on Reddit who has the (maybe one other surviving) ADT-233 lol.
You may want to check out the Curiousmarc vids on fixing the Teletype 33s, but dont get discouraged since he runs into a lot of problems, but you'll get a good idea of how they work. Some dont need so much love to get going, just good lubrication.
You can get a serial adapter at deramp.com, that'll help test and troubleshoot too, since its tough figuring out whether something is a keyboard or printer issue. That entire acoustic coupler is on plug p2...disconnect it and the serial adapter goes in its place. (Note the call control unit will still be in place, just the coupler is disconnected).
If you want to test the coupler and have or can get an old phone and voip adapter, let me know Id be glad to help test it out via phone call. Any old "2500 style" phone would work, or anything with a similar receiver.
Youre in good hands here,
Jeff

I would like to note that this is my first time owning a teletype and that the machine is In surprisingly good condition, I think due to the fact it is a "portable" model which is completely housed in a large fiberglass caddy.

The carriage return also doesn't seem to be working, though I think I could figure out why If I gave it a closer look.
