Thanks, Jim. I didn't bother to put any paper in because the punches aren't punching hihi. It can be seen in the last few seconds of the video that the transfer mechanism (long U-shaped tines) are not transferring the code from the selector mechanism to the punch slides. So there is no way the punch could be working. And feeding that paper is a PITA! The print wheel is just doing what it would do if it was running open.

I will do more work on this today and see if I make any progress. I believe the issue might be related to the "remote LTRS feed out feature" which might be locking out the punch slides, somehow maybe by locking out the perforator reset bail, but this is speculation at this point.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm all ears at this point!

I see the springs on the punch pins jiggling, and they seem to switch back and forth for the R Y ... 

I also saw the type wheel turning back and forth, which suggests that characters ARE being set up. 

why on earth don't you just put some paper tape in the punch chute and SEE what the punches are doing? 

Also, don't forget that on most TTY machings you can turn off the motor and rotate it by hand while keying in mark and space in the loop, and see in slow motion how things are setting up.
