I generally use ITTY to test stuff. For Android devices (including
Chromebooks), there's Droid RTTY. I also test with "impaired" audio and
other stuff at https://w6iwi.org/rtty/audio/ . To generate single tones,
Visual Analyzer does a great job (and is also an oscilloscope, THD
analyzer, frequency counter, and spectrum analyzer).
