Back in the late 30s through the early 60s. Top craftsmen of the Bell System and IBM were required to wear appropriate clothing&hellip; a collared shirt, long trousers and a tie when working inside buildings. As a Teletype and Data Communications Serviceman in 1966 I had to meet these requirements minus the tie, as like our foreman found out his tie could and did get caught in the platen when inspecting the 35 ASR I had just finished routine maintenance.
