Andy, I wouldn’t say it is blue. I would say it is more dark gray with some green tint.  I don’t recall its history but it came from Jack Hart and I could probably look up some old emails from him when I first acquired it. What color is
 yours?

Wait ... you've got a metallic blue 28 as well?

First, anyone recognize this piece of metal? It was inside my 28ASR and is painted the right color. But I can’t figure out where it came from or where it goes?

Second, I can definitely recommend every few years to open up the bottom of your 28ASR and see what you stored in there and long forgot about! I opened mine up today after about
10 years and found somethings I thought I had lost long ago. Including the reel from a motorized paper tape take up unit. I thought it was long lost from a time when I rented the machine to a TV production. I

Next thing I found was this wooden switch thingy I made probably 13 years ago to switch the transmitter from receive to transmit and also put the ST-6 into STANDBY mode to keep
current flowing regardless of any audio input it might receive. That will get reinstalled until I can do something nicer.

Third, I noticed there is a slot in the rear of both my ASR and KSR that appears to be for paper?

What is this used for? Is it used for paper to leave the machine or enter it? Anyone ever make use of this arrangement?
