Hi Guys,
I was recently able to purchase the keyboard contacts from Paul. So
perhaps he has the corresponding base contact strip. It was obvious to
me that someone had removed the contact strip from the keyboard, to what
purpose I don't know. They had soldered a twisted pair directly to the
keyboard and routed it through the base making it impossible to removed
the keyboard without cutting the twisted pair
The gear to drive the keyboard is part of the typing unit, I doubt it's
missing, but worth a check.
Way back when, I was able to convert a 15 RO by simply getting a
keyboard and slipping it in. The cover was a little more difficult. I
suppose I could have purchased the panel from Teletype that has the
cutout for the keyboard, but the budget of a college student required I
not spend any more money. I had a nibbling tool and a hacksaw. So I
cut the RO blank panel to fit the key board. A nibbling tool is really
more of an aluminum cutting tool, but I made it work for the curved
places in the steel panel.
