I've never seen an 'original' print hammer, but my machine didn't arrive with one, so I obtained some hammers made by David Tumey, which look like your picture below. This object does not look anything like that - it's slightly larger in diameter (about 16mm, which is 0.6" according to Google) and has rounded corners all around and it also has a groove around it's outer circumference, which my sample hammer doesn't.  It seems likely though that this is what the previous owner was using as a hammer. I have no idea what it is or was originally but I've heard of a few different creative solutions to repurpose things as hammer covers.
