Joe,
You could send a null (blank) from another machine and then copy text,
but as soon as you received a LTRS, it would shift back to 2nd level.
if you don't have another machine, just try to interrupt the loop
quickly; you may be able to manually create a Blank.
Sounds like you need a software converter to change LTRS to BLANK.
What kid of machine is it??
What alphabet is used in the 1st level??
We have an East German, RFT T 63 at the AWA Museum that is three level.
It types in Cyrillic on receipt of the Blank character.
