While in high school, I did receive Reuters RTTY in Spanish from, I think,
Argentina. I also visited an SWL in the SF east bay who copied the
wirephoto fax transmissions. I remember watching his rotating drum machine
run.

It would be great if those low speed audio tapes were digitized (perhaps 8
kHz sample rate, 8 bits per sample, then FLAC encoded) and put on the
Internet for us all to enjoy.
