My wife is a stamp collector, and she's discovered a useful solvent for removing the gum from self-adhesive stamps that also removes many other annoying things that are otherwise hard to remove.

Air freshener.  Specifically, spray cans of all-natural citrus air freshener.  It's more effective than alcohol, and less likely to attack plastic or paint than goo gone or acetone.  Of course, as with any solvents, always test on an inconspicuous place before going at cleaning a visible place, because it does attack some finishes.  We've had success with it for removing adhesives left behind after peeling off old labels or tape.
