[GreenKeys] Starting KSR-35 gently

I have an unusual setup to run a KSR-35 that
expects 110V AC at 60Hz here in the UK where
the supply is 240V AC at 50Hz. Here's the
setup:

1) I run a UK-sourced mains transformer to turn
the 240V AC at 50Hz into 12V DC. It's a powerful
transformer capable of outputting 35 amps.

2) I connect the above via short thick cables
to a US-sourced 1000-watts pure sine wave
inverter. This turns the 12V DC input into
110 AC at 60Hz.

In fact I have two of these setups. The other
is for an ASR-33. Both have been working for
6 years, but now the one for the KSR-35 fails
at startup. When I switch on the KSR-35, the
inverter complains that the load is too great
and shuts down. There seems to be something
that the KSR-35 is doing differently, since if
I plug the KSR-35 into the other transformer/
inverter rig, that one also shuts down because
the load is too great.

Is there a simple way to power up the KSR-35
slowly, in the hope that it's just the peak
load at starting-up that is causing the
problem?
