The interesting thing this particular machine is original wiring and is a
regular plain old stock 28 ASR WU Telex
I just made a modified typebox for it.... And its easily changed back to
stock.
The inspiration, I have a Model 37 it is Upper and Lower case so I had
asked Paul "Mr Rtty" about the chances for
some 37 lowercase type pallets. He came up with 2 different sets (two
different fonts) for a Model 40
The pallets are functionally the same as the 28, 37 and 35... Anyhow the 40
pallets some have
spring holes and some do not. To make them fully compatible with the 28 I
had to make the
holes in them to make them work in a 28typebox.
That was the hard part!! I made a jig to drill the hole in the pallets. To
drill the hole in the hardened pallet
I first used a #0 dental burr and coolant at about 10K rpm the problem with
that was after 2 pallets the burr was junk
So I switched to a carbide fisher burr (another dental bit) and that was
the golden ticket that blew thru the pallets
like a hot knife thru butter and it didn't care about coolant either.
And Paul Heller a big THANKS for the photos to make/3D Print the Teletype
cover part for the Punch!!!!
I got the majority of the pictures sorted out in Blender to make the 3D
model I just need to do some cleanup to make it better
