Subject: [GreenKeys] Best Way to Clean Model 15 Slugs

I keep alcohol handy in spray bottles and spray the toothbrush rather than the type slugs. Then scrub and scrub! clean with a paper towel and spray and scrub some more. It is very nice to see the the solid black A's, R's and O's go away.

Here is where I heard about Simple Green: http://www.aetherltd.com/refurbishing15.html

I had a moldy ribbon spool and left in in the simple green for a couple days to clean. It took most of the paint off. I was repainting a green 16-jack, jack panel at the time so I sprayed the spool. One of my Teletypes now has one green spool on it!

I bought a Harbor Freight parts washer for my Simple Green. I can also spray an especially dirty area with the pump nozzle. But no selector magnets and no motors! (See the above link.)

I now also have a Harbor Freight Ultrasonic cleaner. I have not used it for (small) Teletype parts yet, but I am sure I will.

Thanks to one-man-webhoster, Virgil Bierschwale N5IVV (vbiersch at gmail.com<mailto:vbiersch at gmail.com>), I hope to have my website back up at n3crk.com<http://n3crk.com> in a couple weeks. It is not fancy. I write HTML by hand.
