"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog's back"
is what is called a pangram, in other words it has every
letter of the alphabet in it. It is useful for testing a
mechanical Teletype to make sure every character types.
Here a some others of my favorite pangrams.
The five boxing wizards jump quickly.
Fix problem quickly with galvanized jets
Pack my red box with five dozen quality jugs.
Watch “Jeopardy!”, Alex Trebek’s fun TV quiz game.
The quick onyx goblin jumps over the lazy dwarf.
The lazy major was fixing Cupid’s broken quiver.
By Jove, my quick study of lexicography won a prize.
My girl wove six dozen plaid jackets before she quit
Six big devils from Japan quickly forgot how to waltz.
Grumpy wizards make a toxic brew for the jovial queen.
Jack quietly moved up front and seized the big ball of wax.
Few black taxis drive up major roads on quiet hazy nights
Back in June we delivered oxygen equipment of the same size.
A quick movement of the enemy will jeopardize six gunboats.
Jackie will budget for the most expensive zoology equipment.
And, of course, RY is the most difficult pair of letters for a
mechanical Teletype to print because everything from the
selector up to the code bars (at least on a model 15)
changes position with each RY pair.
